About Us
Meet The Team
Shades Mountain Wealth Management brings more than 100 years of collective experience in wealth management. Meet our team below:
With over 30 years of experience as a financial advisor, I am dedicated to helping clients navigate the complexities of wealth management with confidence and clarity. My journey into financial advising began while I was attending the University of South Alabama, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in finance. During that time, my mother was diagnosed with dementia, and I was entrusted with managing her financial affairs—a life-changing experience that shaped my passion for guiding others through their financial lives.
I hold the Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®) designation, earned through the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, and I specialize in working with retirees, business owners, and widows. My focus areas include lifetime income planning, wealth accumulation, risk management, succession planning, and estate preservation strategies. I leverage tools like eMoney to create customized investment plans that reflect what matters most to each client. I take pride in building lasting relationships and work closely with clients’ CPAs and estate attorneys to help ensure a fully integrated wealth strategy.
Before forming Shades Mountain Wealth Management, I served as Financial Advisor Vice President with Smith Barney (1992–2005), Merrill Lynch (2005–2014) and Wells Fargo Advisors (2014-2026).
Outside the office, I enjoy spending time with my wife of 30 years, Stacey, and our two children, Robert and Lizzie. I am also an active member of Covenant Presbyterian church and enjoy traveling with my family, tennis, fishing and golf.
As a Financial Advisor, I help individuals, families, trusts, retirement plans, charitable organizations, and businesses manage and grow their assets. With a long-term investment approach, I work closely with clients to develop and implement personalized strategies designed to help build wealth and achieve their financial goals. My mission is to provide objective, timely advice with the highest level of professional service, focused on both growing and preserving wealth.
I bring nearly three decades of experience in the financial services industry, including ten years with A.G. Edwards, another ten years with Merrill Lynch and eight years with Wells Fargo Advisors prior to forming Shades Mountain Wealth Management. I hold a B.S. in Business from the University of Alabama and an MBA from Samford University. Committed to lifelong learning, I have also earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® certification - demonstrating my dedication to meeting rigorous standards in education, examination, and professional experience set by the CFP Board.
I offer clients the clarity and convenience of managing much of their financial lives through a single, trusted point of contact - supported by the resources and strength of one of the world’s premier financial institutions.
Outside the office, I am actively involved in my community, particularly through the Special Needs Ministry at Shades Mountain Baptist Church. My wife, Amy, and I live in Hoover and enjoy spending time with our two grown daughters, Emily and Anna.
